The Next Generation

March 6th, 2010 | Comments | Posted in Current, Tech

Do you know that babies born in the next 15 years will be known as Generation Alpha and they’re set to be the largest generation yet, as we experience a birthrate spike larger than the post-WWII baby boom.

This generation is likely to be the most formally educated in history. They will begin schooling earlier and study for longer. Brought up in an era of information overloaded, they are expected to be even more tech-savvy and materialistic than their predecessor, then Gen-Z and you.

A frightening thought.

Which generations are you?

The Builders: 1920-1945 <– Our grandparent

The Great Depression and World War 2 produced a generation with a strong work ethic, financial conservatism and respect for authority.

The Baby Boomers: 1946-1964 <– Our parent

Born in an era of financial prosperity, they are vocal on social issues and liberal in outlook.

Generation X: 1965-1979 <–Your brothers and sisters not forgetting Massabrina Abdul Ghani.Hak Hak Hak

Cynical about authority and open to new forms of spirituality but insecure about their financial future.

Generation Y: 1980-1994 <–Me and you.WRAWOS was also from this era.

Labeled as flighty and transient, they are known as the “It is all about ME” generation.

Generation Z: 1995-2009 <–Joey was from here

They are tech savvy, creative, confident and have a strong work ethic – the result of more mature parents and the economic downturn.

p/s:It doesn’t matter in which generations are you from, the only person who can decide how your life should be is you.

Ever wonder how Bill Gates’s Facebook looks like ? Bill Gates confessed at an event in New Delhi today that he gave up on Facebook because he couldn’t keep up with the friend requests. Gates remarked that there were “10,000 people wanting to be my friends” after he tried out the service, and it was time consuming to decide if he “knew this person, did I not know this person”.

The Microsoft co-founder also mentioned that he doesn’t spend all day using technology and that “All these tools of tech waste our time if we’re not careful.”
