Arsenal’s Neat, Passing Game

August 16th, 2009 | Comments | Posted in BPL

arsenal_evertonThe Barclay Premier League is back! With Arsenal trashing Everton 6-1 for their first match with Fabregas scored twice.Denilson curled in a sumptuous 25-yarder to get the ball rolling and Thomas Vermaelen marked a hugely impressive debut with a thumping header from Robin van Persie’s free-kick. William Gallas nodded in a third from close range as Arsenal took a stranglehold on the game before half-time.

Cesc Fabregas rounded off a classic counter-attack two minutes into the second half and added a fifth from long range before Eduardo tapped in late on to compound Everton woes.Louis Saha scored a stoppage-time consolation for Everton.Wenger suggested that we need 82 points for a serious stab at the title. Three down, 79 to go. Arsenal are up and running in the grandest manner. While this was an awesome win, let’s not get carried away. We still got a long ways to go.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Cesc Fabregas – Arsenal provided several outstanding candidates, but Fabregas’ afternoon included a pair of goals and a brace of assists.

EVERTON VERDICT: This was unlike Everton. Nevertheless, it is worth remembering they began last season in apparent disarray. While additions are required, Moyes’ capacity to rally his small squad is proven. He claimed there were no positives though Steven Pienaar never flagged.

ARSENAL VERDICT: It was sublime stuff at times. It has long been suggested that Arsenal struggle away from home, especially against the more physical teams; they certainly didn’t today. Now the challenge is to reproduce that performance more often.

Football Updates

1.    Manchester United will definitely win the Barclay Premier League this season as Liverpool and Chelsea only managed to draw on their last week matches.

2.    I think Liverpool will not win any silverware this season although they scored many goals. Too bad for them.

3.    Arsenal still has the chance to win silverware this season .A Champion League trophy to be exact.

4.    Arsenal will win over Manchester United on this semi final. I really hope so.

5.    Tomorrow night The Red Giants will be facing Kelantan on the FA Cup finale. For sure I will opt for Selangor.

6.A Premier League Cup for Manchester United, A F.A Cup for Chelsea, A Champion League Cup for Arsenal and nothing for Liverpool.

Champions League quarter-final draw

uefaThe draw results were already out. Interesting enough I would say. Six teams out of eight were already met during the previous seasons and this should be a suitable moment for a payback time for those teams whose had lost before. Arsenal will meet Villarreal, Chelsea will face Liverpool, Manchester United will be meeting the team who knocked them on 2003/04 league, Porto and lastly Bayern Munchen will be tested by Barcelona. Worry not. The final will not be an English show down.I hope so.
